Near the southern border of Charlotte, the town of Weddington lies close enough to benefit directly from the city's rising fortunes, but it can also be directly affected by the numerous problems that progress brings. Despite its proximity to the influential metropolis, however, Weddington remains a staunchly rural town where new developments are strictly monitored and the conservation of open space is an issue that people really do something about.
Folks in Weddington are lucky, and not just because they have, on average, the highest per-household disposable income in both North and South Carolina ($67,170). They're lucky because they live in a town that not only has some of the loveliest views on god's green earth, but is also smart enough to preserve them.
