Waxhaw's not just a great place to live, it's also a great place to send your kids to school. If you decide to build your home on Waxhaw acreage, your children will have access to the town's seven schools - four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one alternative school that teaches students from Grades 6-12.
Part of the Union County Public Schools (UCPS) district, these institutions' students consistently perform above par. As a whole, students of Union County Public Schools regularly score higher than their peers in both the state and the country in assessment tests. In the 2007 Scholastic Assessment Tests (SATs), for example, UCPS' combined reading and math scores was 1023 compared to the state score of 1004 and the national score of 1017.

Waxhaw's elementary schools are the Sandy Ridge, Kensington, Western Union and Waxhaw Elementary Schools. All of these schools teach students from Grades K-5 and they usually get better than average scores in End-of-Grade (EOG) tests.
Marvin Ridge Middle School on Crane Road has just recently opened, and parents will be interested to know that it offers a comprehensive curriculum (which includes Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language). Marvin Ridge High School has likewise just opened.
Those who live on Waxhaw horse property also enjoy South Providence School, the only Alternative School of UCPS. According to the school's own website, South Providence teaches students from Grades 6 to 12 who've had "difficulty in the traditional school environment."
